As summer has arrived so does the annual Xiamen Gulangyu 10s known as the best social tournament in all of China. The amazing weekend had #hangzhouharlequins facing two very strong teams in the group stages, Shenzhen Dragons and Wuhan Baiji. Through sheer passion and determination the Quins topped the group securing their place in the Xiamen Gulangyu Cup. Pool games results: 19-0 against Wuhan and 7-7 against Shenzhen. World Rugby Coaching Cource in Hangzhou

Mid season and we are always seeking to improve. Hosted at the picturesque Hangzhou CIS, senior and junior members of the Harlequins had the opportunity to take the World Rugby Level 1 Coaching Course. Well instructed by Shanghai’s Simon Pang, every participant had the chance to learn crucial principles of Rugby and replicate a coaching scenario to improve their technique. Looks like we have more and more guys interested in taking the coaching route to help spread Rugby here in China.

A new milestone in China Rugby, the first rugby match held in Yiwu and the first All Zhejiang Rugby Games. We faced off against local buddies and ‘real men’, Yiwu Mustangs rugby club, as well as the brand new Ningbo Wolves, on a lovely, sunny winter’s day. This 2nd leg of the Sino 10s league saw the Shanghai Twin Dragons step up in place of the Yiwu Mustangs as numbers forced their withdrawal. This meant that any results would equala 30-0 win for whoever played them. The East China rugby season returned on a wet and dreary day perfectly suited for running around ‘egg-chasing’.
